Hi Friends & Family,
As you recall, on May 4th, 2017 our Mom, Debbie Kelly, was diagnosed with Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer) of the right breast. Naturally, a very scary time for her and all of us, her biggest supporters. The day she was diagnosed we rallied up to show her our love. Her husband, sisters, friends and daughters were right by her side with plenty of love, hugs and wine. We laughed, we cried and we reminded her she is not fighting this fight alone. Debbie underwent a lumpectomy on June 7th, 2017. Dr. Barbara Krueger, her phenomenal surgeon, came out of surgery that day to let us know everything went very well and the pathology report was negative for any cancer in her lymph nodes. We were all very relieved.
After full recovery of surgery, Debbie began radiation in September 2017. She was required to go Monday-Friday every day for three weeks. It was a very emotional and exhausting time, but to no ones surprise she was so incredibly strong and positive throughout the entire process. She is forever grateful to those of you who went with her to treatments or called weekly to check in on her or took her out to breakfast or sent her flowers. Whatever way you reached out to her to show your support - she remembers it all. She commends her strong faith and the support of her family and friends in getting her through this.
She completed her final day of radiation on September 26th, 2017 and boy was she ever so happy to be done! We celebrated as a family and went out for dinner at Cooper's Hawk - and drank plenty of wine, naturally. Now that radiation is over, she's required to keep up with numerous doctor visits - including keeping a close watch on her lungs and mammograms twice a year.
She goes for her next 3D mammogram this March. Please continue your prayers and well wishes for our Mom. This diagnosis isn't a one time thing, it is a continual journey.
Last year, we had such a beautiful Mother's Day walking together to support such a great cause and we'd love to continue that tradition. Please sign up, join us in the walk or donate to team "Debbie's Darlings!" Your love and support is truly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.
We plan to head to Bourbon Street for Brunch just like we did last year. Tickets to Brunch at Bourbon Street are not available yet, but as soon as they open - we'll be sure to let everyone know.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
All our love,
Mike, Colleen, Erin & Bridgett
