Lace up your walking shoes, we’re going virtual!
The OSF Beverly Breast Cancer Walk has been a tradition in the Beverly community for 20 years. Started by a passionate, caring group of volunteers, the walk provides a way for our community to come together to support breast cancer treatment and services for patients, survivors and their families at OSF Little Company of Mary. This 3-mile walk takes place to “support the fighters, admire the survivors, honor the taken and never give up hope.”
Traditionally this walk has been held at Ridge Park on Mother’s Day. This year, because of the coronavirus pandemic, OSF HealthCare will instead host a virtual walk on Sunday, May 10th. The virtual walk is a fun, interactive way to get up and move safely during the coronavirus pandemic while still honoring and supporting our friends, family and all those who have or are currently facing the fight against breast cancer.
Whether you choose to walk around your house, on a treadmill, in your driveway or in your neighborhood, we encourage you to register for this year’s Beverly Breast Cancer Virtual Walk. Then on walk day, we’ll cheer each other on through social media as we do our own virtual steps. To join in the fun, take a picture of yourself walking and post it to the OSF Beverly Breast Cancer Virtual Walk Facebook page, tag it with #OSFBBCW and share the names of those who you walk for or the reason why you walk.
With everything going on, we recognize that the need for breast cancer services, treatment and support doesn’t stop - and neither does our commitment to supporting patients and their families during these critical times.
Proceeds from the walk will continue to benefit the Cancer Center and the award-winning Comprehensive Breast Health Center here on campus at OSF HealthCare Little Company of Mary Medical Center to provide state-of-the-art treatment and services to breast cancer patients, survivors and their families. More specifically, the OSF BBCW will continue to sustain its funding of current breast health programming - deepening its impact with support of the BBCW Crisis Fund to assist our breast cancer patients with emergent financial needs through treatment.
The 2020 Virtual OSF Beverly Breast Cancer Walk continues the commitment to further serve the needs of breast cancer patients and survivors in the Chicago Southland. We look forward to hosting our first ever virtual OSF BBCW on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 10, 2020) to support breast cancer patients, survivors and their families at OSF Little Company of Mary.
Thank you for your continued support of our walk. We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you. There is no doubt, we are “stronger together.”
